I was just looking through the Econference statistics.�This Econf. has smashed all past records.�At time of checking, there were 80 topics and��a total of 416 posts. The most prolific �e-conference previously was the one on concrete durability earlier this year which had 57 topics and 263 posts.�


When we had sent a pre-conference intimation, I received a note of caution- 'Isn't this topic too vast to cover in a single conference?' Yes, it is - but honestly, how many of us are going to have time to come back again and again to it if we had planned 3 econferences on Tall Buildings, not to speak of conference fatigue? So while the canvas is too large and overwhelming, we felt SEFI �should indeed give it its �best shot. And look how far we've come!�


There have been exceptionally well-informed and enlightening discussions and contributions from very experienced experts of the tall buildings industry, �and we have �had some young/not-so-experienced �members �contributing too. That is the good thing in a democratic platform such as SEFI. Everyone's voice is heard. �We hope, if we have time, to filter emails and make a compendium of the most insightful ones which may be used as a reference by all. It will not be an easy task�(I'm not sure, for e.g. �if the topics are properly titled - �many SEFIans have "replied" to a mail while starting on a new topic. And then �there are multiple threads for the same topic.)��but its worth trying.�


I can enumerate at least 30 important topics which are still left to be discussed. So much to do, so little time.....But there is �one important �topic �we would like very much �to discuss. What are the issues you would like to see addressed in a Tall Buildings Code, were such a thing being planned for India? I'm talking here more of the Table of Contents, rather than the contents themselves. Pl do write more on this.�


At this point I would also like to record �our appreciation of �Sanjeev Kumar, our Admin head �and SOS. He and his team have worked relentlessly through the conference. It helps that Sanjeev is also a civil engineer (from IIT Kanpur, but alas defected to IT). Due to our budget constraints, we are unable to compensate him for such events. I appeal to all of you to make it possible for us to do so. For a 10 day conference, surely one would be ready to pay Rs 100/day. So go ahead, you know what you have to do.�

Dear Er Alpa,

It is heartening to note that this e-conf. has smashed all records. It clearly shows the importance of the topic.

I also wish to appreciate the efforts put in byEr Sanjeev(Hope you received the cheque sent by me!). I request not only the persons who attended this e-conf. but also the ones raising questions in General Forum to send their annual contributions, so that Sefindia.org can function smoothly.

I also take this opportunity to appreciateEr Rangarajan, who is not only participating in many discussions but also painstakingly preparing the daily digest of the conf. proceedings.

Finally, I would like to thank and appreciateyoufor your bright idea of conducting this Tall building Conference.
