Dear Colleagues:

Many of you may be interested to know that recently, two books of Earthquake
Engineering (originally published abroad) have been reprinted in low-price
editions by the Indian brach of Pearson Education (Singapore). These
low-priced editions are for sale in Indian subcontinent only. Interested
persons may buy from local book sellers; in case of difficulty with that,
you may contact Mr. Sri Krishna of India office of Pearson for assistance
in procurement of books. His address is: Pearson Education (Singapore) Pte
Ltd, Indian Branch, 482 F.I.E. Patparganj, Delhi 110 092, email:
sri.krishna@pearsoned.co.in

1. Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering by S L Kramer

This book was originally published by Pearson Education, USA in 1996 and is
internationally priced at around US$ 115; the Indian edition is priced at
about Rs 350/-. An excellent book useful not only for those interested in
geotechnical aspects of earthquakes, but also all others interested in
earthquake engineering. The chapters on Seismology and Earthquakes (Chapter
2), Strong Ground Motion (Chapter 3) and Seismic Hazard Analysis (Chapter 4)
cover basic fundamentals of earthquake engineering.

2. Manual of Seismic Design by J L Stratta

This book was originally published by Prentice Hall, USA in 1987. Indian
reprint of the same is now available at about Rs 195/-. A simple book
written with focus on practicing engineers, it has lots of photographs of
damages in the past earthquakes to explain the concepts (and very little
数学)。回顾这本书has recently been published in the
Indian Concrete Journal.

With best regards,

Sudhir K Jain
