Dr Fazlur Rehman Khan (1929 - 1982 ) (Continued from previous posts)
Dr Rehman , also quoted as 'Einstein of Structural Engg ' used to see Bamboos growing around everywhere in his native town , and as a child , he developed an inherent Tubular concept of thin Bamboos ,so tall and group of bamboos still taller. Thus inspired by bamboo concept he found that hollow Tubes like bamboos can lent a high rise vertical durability.
Few of Dr Fazlur Rehman 's Super Tall building Structures are - 100 storey John Hancock Center - 1970 ( Trussed Tube system) 110 storey Sears Tower ( Wills Tower ) in Bundled Tube system One Magnificent Mile Tower in Bundled Tube system Ontireri Center
Other projects : Haji Airport Terminal , Soudi Arabia 1981 King Abdul Aziz University at Jeddah (1976 - 77)
他获得了许多奖项和recognitions . In his honor , Council of Tall Buildings & Urban Habitats started Fazlur Rehman Life time Achievement Award for Structural Engineer Community.
At the age of 52 , Dr Rehman was on tour to Jeddah , Soudi Arabia, suffered f heart attack and died there. He was rested at Graceland cemetery in Chicago, US .
Regarded as 'Greatest Structural engineer of 20th Century ' his innovative works are backbone of Super Tall Structures. |
