Dear seniors,
Greetings,

Can we use paver blocks for internal factory road construction, which will also experience traffic load of heavy vehicles. Is there any design procedure available for base and subgrade layers, or can we use the design of subgrade layers same as rigid pavement.

How to decide thickness of block according to traffic loads?

Paver blocks :

It is not advisable to use paver blocks in main pavement for heavy industrial traffic.

At the most it can be used in Shoulders running on either side of main pavement.

For paver blocks for ight traffic ,, Sub base and base are same as main pavement,, snd these are laid on sand. .

Not designed but i think , these have to resist crushing under wheel load,, and accordingly rich mix up to M35 is used with thickness as per design.

希望Highway Ers may throw more light

One of a bridge I daily commute (main bridge on old mumbai pune road on kalwa creek and carries heavy loaded vehicles also), it is paved with these concrete paver blocks from very beginning (nearly about 10years).
Still it is in fairly good condition, except very little undulations at few places.

Since paver blocks are on rcc deck slab,, these are laid as wearing surface (in place of conventional wearing coat) . in this case these blocks will not dislocate as these are resting on rigid conc base and will have high durability.

But when these are laid on sub base, base course,, because of small dim,, very high loads of industrial loading cause dislocations and may not be durable.

很明显,摊铺机blocks are used as wearing layer,, since these blocks are lad on deck slab,, these are not subjected to any dislocations due to rigid base.

Use them for light traffic loadings only.
