dear Experts,

Can you advise on the behaviour of wide column on narrow columns. Example we have 300 x 500 column and Beam is 900 x 350.

由于楼层高度梁深度是有限的。

When consdiering shear at column do we take 900 width or take 300 width?


How is the Shear links then to be provided.

Wide beams on thin columns

: Beams framing in both directions

Even if column dimension is less, receiving a wider beam , the orthogonal frame beam provides bearing to wider beam . In case of inner columns , even reinforcement of beam is continuous and all bars will be fully monolithic , though some bars not passing through columns . However in case of end columns , the beam bars directly on column can be bent Ld into it , but bars out of column meeting ortho beam need to be provided with Ld into beam by giving two bends in ortho beam.

For shear , full section of beam is applicable .
